About Paris Observatory

Founded under Louis XIV and still working on its original site south of the city center. Giovanni Cassini directed it and discovered four moons of Saturn from its grounds. The Paris Meridian long rivaled Greenwich as the zero of longitude. Now a major research center for astrophysics.
