About IceCube Neutrino Observatory
A neutrino detector buried 1.5 km deep in Antarctic ice. Uses 5,160 optical sensors. Detected the first high-energy neutrinos from outside our galaxy in 2018. Tracks neutrinos passing through the Earth. The ice acts as both detector and shield.
