About BTA-6

The largest telescope in the world from 1975 until Keck in 1993. Located in the Caucasus mountains at 2,070 m near Zelenchukskaya. Its early single-piece mirror suffered thermal distortion problems that took decades to manage. Still in service for spectroscopy.
