About Uraniborg

The castle observatory of Tycho Brahe on the island of Ven, built before the telescope. His giant mural instruments measured planetary positions to about one arcminute. Two decades of these observations let Kepler derive his laws of planetary motion. Stood as an early model of a dedicated research institution.
