The High Energy Stereoscopic System in the Khomas Highlands at 1,800 m. Four 12 m telescopes plus a giant 28 m fifth telescope added in 2012. Discovered dozens of sources of very-high-energy gamma rays along the Milky Way. Named for Victor Hess, discoverer of cosmic rays.
